Sing in the Special Choir for a
Synodical High Mass and 25th Anniversary
of the
Anglican Catholic Church
In the chapel of Westminster Central Hall, London SW1H 9NH
The Anglican Catholic Church (not to be confused with the Anglo-Catholic Church, Forward in Faith, or The Ordinariate) is what might be described as a free-floating Christian organisation within the Anglican movement, but not centred on Canterbury.
Each year, a High Mass is held in conjunction with their synod and this year
there will also be a celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the ACC.
The music for the 2017 mass will be provided by a choir directed by Philip Norman.
There will be rehearsal in the chapel at 9.30am, the Mass will commence at 11am, and is likely to finish by 12.30-12.45 pm. In view of the short rehearsal time, modest sight-reading abilities are desirable. The music will include Elgar's
O Salutaris
(access them HERE) and a full set of
Propers for the Holy Spirit
(access them HERE). You can watch and hear a performance of the Elgar HERE.
As for the Propers, you can hear electronic reconstructions of what the will sound like (MIDI files) via these links: Introit, Alleluia, Offertory, Communion. Copies will be provided on the day.
It has become the practice in recent years for the choir not to robe, just to be suitably dressed.
If you are interested in singing with this choir, please fill in the form below, or ring Philip Norman on 07939 064 247.
There's no fee, but it's a good opportunity for a High Church sing and a Methodist lunch.
