Recital: Michael Stephens-Jones

Michael Stephens-Jones was organ scholar to the Dean Close Foundation, Cheltenham and Tewkesbury Abbey, and from Autumn 2018 has read music together with holding the Organ Scholarship at Selwyn College, Cambridge. He was formerly Organ Scholar at All Saints Parish Church, Hertford and an Academic and Music scholar at St Edmund's College, Ware.

Michael commenced organ lessons with Martin Penny in 2011, gaining a Distinction at Grade VIII in 2015 and has more recently studied with Edmund Aldhouse and Carleton Etherington. He was awarded his Associateship of the Royal College of Organists “ARCO” in February 2018. He has attended Oundle for Organists and RCO summer courses, participated in classes under renowned organists such as Dame Gillian Weir and Frédéric Blanc, and was senior organ scholar to The RSCM Bath Summer Choral Course 2016. In December 2016 he won 1st Prize in the inaugural London Organ Competition.

Michael has performed solo recitals at Leeds Town Hall, Hertford, Stamford, St Albans, and the Royal Hospital School, Holbrook. He has also accompanied choirs widely. Forthcoming recitals in 2018 include St Mary’s, Newark, Tewkesbury Abbey, and a tour to the Netherlands.
