The One-man Band
Philip Norman

1000 years ago, the organ had scarcely begun to take shape before players were feeling dissatisfied with it and what it was asked to play. From these early days of extemporised performance, through the formal compostion of organ works, to the 21 century, organists and composers have looked to other musical forms and instruments for inspiration as to how they could bring about improve(?)ments.

Philip Norman looks at some of the influences in the talk, replete with lavish audio and visual illustrations.
