Klavs Liepins

Born in Riga, Latvia, pianist and organist Klāvs Liepiņš (1986) began his musical education at the age of 5 in a children's ensemble and started to take piano lessons when he was 7. In 2007 he graduated from Riga Cathedral Choir School in choir conductor's speciality (professors V. Bernhofs, I. Kamarūte). During his school years he took interest in piano and chamber music along with choir conducting and composition. Liepiņš continued his education in Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music (choir conducting, 2007-2008). He began taking organ lessons from Latvian organist Kristine Adamaite. At the end of 2010 he moved to Vienna, Austria, and in 2011 enrolled in the Conservatory of Church Music Vienna (Diözesankonservatorium für Kirchenmusik der Erzdiözese Wien), studying church music (Gregorian chants, liturgical organ performance, etc.) and organ with Dr. Andrea Pach, to later enroll in the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (MDW).
