All singers (both experienced and new-baked) from Llanddewi Rhydderch and beyond are invited to be part of this concert. Llanddewi Rhydderch Festival Choir is a project based choir. That is, concerts and/or events are set up and there is a limited number of rehearsals leading up to that event. Participation in the event is not dependent on having sung with the choir before, and participation does NOT commit singers to any other events.

Membership of the choir is open to all interested singers.

As mentioned above, singing with the choir carries no implication of further committment. This is a self contained project and once done and dusted, that's it. You will be kept informed of other similar projects, but not with an expectation that you will participate.

It is NOT expected that singers will be able to sight read music. The pieces chosen will allow for a range of musical abilities and, for those who want to use them, downloadable rehearsal tracks will be available.

The choir has nine pieces to sing. When the music book has been prepared, you'll be able to have a look at it HERE. These are the pieces:

From previous years:

• Lipstick on Your Collar;
• Scarborough Fair.

New this year:

• Fields of Gold;
• Midnight in Moscow;
• She's Leaving Home;
• Sleep, Dearie, Sleep;
• Yellow Submarine.

There will be rehearsal tracks, which will appear on this page in due course.

Rehearsals will begin in April. The pattern will be somewhat fractured to avoid Bank Holiday weekends.

All rehearsals will be in St David's church.

• GROUP A: for those singers who like to get to know the notes very well:
  
  1. Sunday 27 April, 3.00 - 5.00 pm.
  2. Wednesday 7 May, 7.00 - 9.00 pm
  3. Sunday 11 May, 3.00 - 5.00 pm.
  4. Sunday 18 May, 3.00 - 5.00 pm.

  Then joining GROUP B

• GROUP B: for those singers who are familiar with printed music but like to practise pieces several times:
  5. Wednesday 28 May, 7.00 - 9.00 pm;
  6. Sunday 1 June, 3.00 - 5.00 pm;
  7. !!! Optional top-up rehearsal for singers who would like just that last little bit of extra practice:
     Wednesday 4 June, 7.00 - 9.00 pm.

Then joining GROUP C

• GROUP C: for those singers able to perform pieces at first or second sight:
  8. Saturday 7 June, 3.00 - 5.00 pm.

There is music to be produced, a church to be lit, (and possibly heated), rehearsal interval refreshments to be provided, and publicity materials to create, so a collection will be taken to cover these.

There is no actual last date - we can accept new singers right up to 3.00 pm on Saturday 7 June.

However, music has to be collated and printed, to make sure that everything is ready for the first rehearsal (27 April), and the number of copies ordered will be based on the number of registrations to date (plus a few more). please, if possible, register

as soon as possible.
