Music in Bloomsbury with Organists Online
Organ Day 28 January 2023
Patron: Dame Gillian Weir

Background Information

Welcome to this, the eleventh Organ Day to be arranged by Music in Bloomsbury and Organists Online. Our theme for today is Trocadero and Town Halls, and we look at theatre organs, town hall organs, and the music that they inspired.

We also (VERY belatedly) celebrate 20 years of Organists Online, which first went online in November 2000.

Richard Hills is our Concluding Recitalist at 6.00pm, and Simon Gledhill and Daniel Greenway will be giving the afternoon recitals. Richard Brasier will be telling us all about his new edition of Franck's organ works and playing some examples.

Throughout the afternoon, it will be possible to purchase organ-related music and CDs and there will be good time to meet each other and exchange news and views.

One of the most excellent and famous Bloomsbury Buffets will be available from 5pm until the start of the Concluding Recital at 6pm.

Finally, and best of all, all the afternoon events are free,(but there will be an ongoing collection and/or the opportunity to make a donation at the time of registration to help cover costs).

Here is the day's programme:

To avoid overcrowding at entrance areas as people pay for the buffet and the Concluding Recital, we are taking card payments for these at the time of registration. Card payments won't be obligatory, but it will reduce crowding and are HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Similarly, in previous years, an ongoing collection to cover expenses has taken place - with much undignified rattling of collection buckets. This year, we are asking you to make a donation by card at the time of registration.
