Assistant Director of Music (Part-Time) — All Saints Parish Church, Leamington Spa
All Saints Parish Church, one of England's largest and most musically ambitious parish churches, is seeking a part-time Assistant Director of Music from 1st September 2026. The role involves deputising for the Director of Music for two Sundays and two Fridays per month, leading the church's well-established SATB choir. It is an excellent opportunity for an emerging choral director looking to develop their skills within a warm, high-achieving musical community, alongside other professional commitments.
The choir has over 30 members affiliated with the RSCM, performing a wide repertoire from plainsong to contemporary works. Regular duties include leading Friday evening rehearsals, Sunday morning and afternoon sessions, and major choral services throughout the liturgical year. The role also involves managing the junior choir, overseeing the music library and choir administration, and coordinating a bi-monthly organ recital series in support of the church's Organ Restoration Appeal.
Candidates must have proven experience in choral conducting and choir training, strong knowledge of the choral repertoire, keyboard skills sufficient to accompany the choir, and excellent organisational and IT skills. Experience working with children and the ability to play the organ are desirable. The post is subject to a DBS check, and the successful candidate will be expected to adhere fully to the church's safeguarding and inclusion policies.
Remuneration is £68 per session, with a total annual salary of £2,500–£3,000 depending on sessions worked, reviewed annually in line with RSCM guidelines. To apply, send a CV and covering letter to Tim Muggeridge at music@allsaintschurchleamington.org.uk. The closing date is 5pm on Thursday 18th June, with interviews the week commencing 29th June. Informal enquiries are warmly welcomed.
