Other details:
Bromley Parish Church is seeking an accomplished and enthusiastic Organist to join our musical team as we begin an exciting new chapter under the leadership of our incoming Director of Music.
At the heart of Bromley for over 800 years, Bromley Parish Church combines a rich musical tradition with a warm, growing, and welcoming congregation. Music plays a central role in our worship, supporting a sung Choral Eucharist each Sunday, monthly Choral Evensong, major festivals, and occasional civic services.
We are looking for a musician who will help us continue to offer music of a high standard while serving the worship and mission of the church. Working closely with the Director of Music, Vicar, and choir, the successful candidate will contribute to a musical culture that is prayerful, collaborative, and ambitious.
The Role
The Organist will:
Play for the principal Sunday Choral Eucharist and monthly Choral Evensong.
Accompany the weekly choir rehearsal.
Play for major festivals and agreed additional services.
Support and develop the parish's strong choral tradition.
Work collaboratively with the Director of Music, clergy, choir, and volunteers.
Play for weddings, funerals, and memorial services (additional fees payable).
About You
You will:
Be an experienced organist, ideally performing to ARCO standard or equivalent.
Have experience of liturgical organ playing within the Anglican tradition.
Be a confident accompanist with strong hymn-playing skills.
Have experience supporting choirs.
Be reliable, well-prepared, and able to work collaboratively.
Be supportive of the mission and ministry of the Church of England.
Musical Resources
The church benefits from:
A growing SATB choir of adults and senior youth.
A three-manual 1991 J. W. Walker & Sons organ.
A Mander chamber organ.
Yamaha baby grand piano and Clavinova.
Why Bromley?
This is an opportunity to join a thriving parish church with a strong musical heritage, a committed choir, and a congregation that values music as an integral part of worship. We are looking for someone who shares our conviction that music is not simply an addition to worship but a means of prayer, proclamation, and discipleship.
