St John’s, Milford is seeking an enthusiastic and accomplished Organist & Accompanist to join us at an exciting moment of musical renewal.
Following a hugely successful Nine Lessons and Carols (a real-life Sister Act moment!), our newly founded choir is growing quickly and building momentum. We are looking for a musician who is both skilled and encouraging, and who would enjoy helping to shape a revitalised parish music tradition.
Founded and directed by a professional singer and actor with a background in church & classical music, the choir combines musical ambition with warmth, joy and community spirit. We are looking for an organist who would like to help shape and grow this new chapter.
Role
Play at weekly Sunday services (10:00am; arrival 09:15)
Lead hymns, provide entry/recessional music, and gentle Communion music
Accompany the choir (currently monthly, aiming for weekly)
Accompany weekly rehearsals (Wednesdays 18:30–20:30)
Play for approx. 6 concerts per year
Weddings/funerals paid separately
Compensation
£40 per rehearsal
£40 per Sunday service
£20 weekly retainer
Separate negotiated fees for occasional offices
We are seeking an excellent organist who is warm, collaborative, and excited to help grow something special — with ambitions including concerts, scholarships, outreach, and (in time) a new organ.
