Musical Requirements:

St Luke’s, Kew, is seeking an organist for the regular Sunday Service on 30th August 2026.

(Unrobed) choir rehearsal led by our Director of Music at 10:15am (the church is open earlier if you want to practise) followed by the service 11:00-12:15am with sung Rizza mass. The (small) choir sings an anthem during communion.

Our worship features a blend of contemporary and traditional church music.

We bought the current organ in 2000 from a church in Brentford, it’s a single manual J. W. Walker & Sons London 1873 organ and blowing plant, maintained by Wintle Organs, with modern humidifier.

Reasonable expenses (e.g. travel) will be paid. We are an easy walking distance from Kew Gardens Underground and Overground Station and several bus routes, and (a slightly longer distance) from Richmond Station. Church car park and free street parking also available.

Other details:

Kew is a district in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, Surrey which retains a village feel. It is the location of the Royal Botanic Gardens (Kew Gardens) and is also the home of The National Archives.

St Luke’s is a lively and inclusive church in Kew (in the Diocese of Southwark). It is a part of the United Benefice of Kew with St Philip and All Saints (the Barn Church).

St Luke’s Church was built in 1889, following a temporary ‘iron church’ in Sandycombe Road, to serve the population of the parish with the coming of the District Line. It is unique in that it was one of the few Anglican churches designed by Goldie, Child and Goldie who were primarily designers of Roman Catholic churches. It is built in the Gothic Revival Style.

The large Victorian Church was redesigned in 1983 to function as a dual-purpose building: a smaller church in the former chancel area and the former nave and the rest of the building as a community space.

St Luke’s is close to Kew Gardens (https://www.kew.org/), a lovely place to spend the afternoon after church.
