Bishop Damien Mead
St Augustine’s Church
Painters , Nr Faversham,
The Liturgy we use is taken from the Anglican Missal / Knott English Missal.
Sunday Sung Mass usually consists of 4 hymns (from the New English Hymnal -usually). Merbecke Mass Setting, with incidental music before, during Holy Communion, and immediately after the service.
Also, (optional), accompaniment of our Cantor to sing the Mass Propers from (usually) the English Gradual.
We are a “continuing” Anglican Church, with a small but friendly congregation established in Canterbury in 2005 and, since 2017, after we bought our own Church building in Painters, in this delightful small village. Occasionally we host larger events for our Diocese with special services to accompany these (usually these are on Saturdays) including Solemn High Mass. We also try to have a Mass on Major Holy Days throughout the year - although it is not essential that our Sunday Organist cover these.
We have enjoyed the services of a permanent organist for the past 3 years, but sadly for us, it is time for him to move on.
We usually pay £50 (by bank transfer) for each regular Sunday Service and for each other service as part of our Liturgical Kalendar (eg: Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday etc.). Other occasional services, which cannot be predicted, such as funerals, weddings etc a different fee may be negotiated.
The Village of Painters Forstal is located south of Faversham, beside the M2 Motorway.
