Holy Innocents Church is a Church England Parish Church in N8, North London
We are looking for a director of music who is passionate about building up the musical life of our multicultural congregation. We are in the Anglo-Catholic tradition and we are looking for somebody who can work sensitively with both the liturgy of the church and the diverse group of people who make Holy Innocents their home, who is able lead and energise both the choral tradition and Gospel music, and more besides. Ideally, we would like to appoint an organist to this role, but for the right Musical Director, we would consider a non-organist. We currently have a small choir which rehearses monthly, and draw from the wider community for our All Souls Requiem Mass, Nine Lessons and Carols and other choral events. Entitled to 6 Sundays’ holiday a year.
Our Rieger-Kloss Krnov pipe organ was transported from Canada and assembled in the church by our previous organist, Gilbert Reines, who sadly died before the work on the organ could be completed. We are looking to convert the organ to solid state and complete some renovation work over the summer. It is an unusual and beautiful instrument and we hope for a musical director who will take an active interest in securing Gilbert’s legacy.
