Are you:
• Passionate about encouraging people to get involved in music?
• Flexible in liturgical musical styles?
• Able to play the organ / keyboard?
• Collaborative, and keen to work with small numbers of people of all ages and of varying musical abilities?
If so, we would love to talk with you.
St John’s is one of 3 churches in a team which works well together. We have an established congregation of about 35 adults and between 3 and 15 young people. In church tradition we are gently liberal Catholic, but people are more important than liturgical form. Our other Kidlington church (St Mary’s) has an established choral tradition and many St John’s youngsters are also choristers there. St John’s has few musical resources at present however the congregation is keen to change this and expand our musical repertoire.
What we would like:
• To widen our congregational singing repertoire (hymns / choruses / Taize / Iona / rounds….)
• To involve instrumental players and encourage those learning instruments to get involved
• To work towards an informal and inclusive singing group
• To work together on the choice of music
• To start simply and grow things organically
What we can offer you:
• A friendly and supportive environment
• Clergy and lay people who will work with you and communicate
• Flexibility to try things and see if they work
