Musical Requirements:
We are seeking to recruit a Music Director who will play the organ at our services, and who will restart our Parish Choir. We are two small, friendly congregations. Remuneration is negotiable. Please contact Revd Dr Francesca Perlman Mitchell for an application form, and for an informal chat.
We are seeking a Music Director with the following qualities:
• Proficiency on organ and piano
• Experience and proficiency in conducting a church choir
• Experience in a range of styles of church music
• Ability to work with and inspire volunteers (adults and children), and encourage the congregation
• Ability to work with the Priest-in-Charge and officers of the church
• Sympathy with the beliefs of the church
The duties are as follows:
• Play at 2 services each Sunday: 9.30am at the Wisdom of God, 11am at St Andrew’s
(usually consisting of 4 hymns, parts of a sung Mass and music before and after the service)
• Play at additional services (e.g. Christmas and Easter) as required
• Form a choir to sing regularly at services at one or both churches, actively recruiting singers
• Rehearse and direct the choir, with weekly rehearsals
• Work with the minister and others on ways to use music as a tool for outreach and church growth
• Play for occasional services, e.g. funerals and weddings, if available
• Choose hymns in conjunction with the Minister
• Encourage the congregation in singing
• Oversee the care of the organs and piano.
• Comply with safeguarding policy, including having an enhanced DBS check
• Comply with health and safety policy, including performing risk assessments where appropriate
