Musical Requirements:
Duties to include playing and directing the choir for Sunday Mass, monthly Choral Evensong / Advent Carols / Nine Lessons and Carols, Solemnities and rehearsals as required.
Our strong choral tradition has been revitalized under our outgoing director of music, Katrine Reimers. We are seeking to appoint a successor who will continue to develop and grow our choir. S. Mark’s sits within the Catholic tradition of the Church of England and its beautiful liturgy is enriched by music that often draws sizeable congregations. The parish is committed to supporting excellence in choral music.
The choir at S. Mark’s is an experienced, committed and balanced SATB robed choir of eleven singers (more for Evensong), confidently handling accompanied and unaccompanied repertoire including Anglican chant psalms and simple plainchant in English and Latin. Mass settings include Byrd Mass for Four Voices, Stanford in C and canticles from Tallis to Philip Moore. The three--manual pipe organ is regularly tuned and maintained.

S. Mark’s is the Church of England parish church serving central Swindon (within easy reach of Bath, Bristol, Oxford and Reading) – a ten minute walk from Swindon railway station.
