1. Professional experience of Roman Catholic liturgical and musical practice, to plan/select music appropriate for the seasons and feasts of the Church’s year.
2. A knowledge and appreciation of Catholic liturgy.
3. Professional experience playing the organ in a Church setting.
We are seeking a Music Director who knows how to play the organ and the required music for our Sunday masses with direction of the choir.
The music at the mass will consist of choral as well as congregational music and occasional motets. Applicants should also be able to help develop the skills and repertoire of an amateur choir. The organ is a mid-19th century organ.
Applicant should have knowledge of or appreciation for Catholic liturgy and liturgical music.
The Organist’s duties include performing at both the 9:30am and 11:30am Mass (excluding the first Sunday after Christmas and the Sunday after Easter). As well as hymns, except on the Sundays of Lent, a voluntary before and after Mass.
The Parish Organist will have first refusal for all weddings and funerals.
