Other details:
Stoneleigh is a large, picturesque village and lies between Warwick and Coventry (8 minutes off the A46).
Beautifully preserved Norman church. The well-cared-for churchyard is a Commonwealth War Graves Cemetery
St Mary’s is one in a benefice of 4 churches and the first Sunday of the month sees a rotating united service. Therefore, the organist is only required to play 3 times a year (February, June and October) on the first Sunday.
The Nicholson organ and detached console are placed in the west-end gallery. NPOR: https://npor.org.uk/survey/D03160 The flute on the swell is actually 2’ (not 4’)
Robust, versatile and extremely reliable for its age, the church is aware that a rebuild of the organ will be called for at some point in the future. It is more than able to support a large congregation for eg 9 Lessons and Carols, Easter Day etc. There is also a baby grand piano. The organ will be available for practice and private teaching provided the church is not otherwise in use.
Sung communion setting. Supportive clergy and generous congregation. The current organist/DOM currently chooses the hymns but this is open to negotiation.
Deputies available.
The job would be offered on a self-employed basis; £60 per service, £120 per wedding/funeral.
The village boasts both a ladies’ choir and a male voice choir.
