A good standard of organ playing, plus ability (or willingness to learn) conducting a small robed choir, on 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th Sundays. On 3rd Sundays assisting with St Mary's instrumental group,(playing, conducting or arranging) and with St Mary's children's choir.
We are seeking an organ scholar, who will in effect be a deputy director of music, for the period 1 September 2020 to 31 July 2021. St Mary's has a small robed choir on most Sundays, with an instrumental group and children's choir at third Sunday all-age worship. The organ scholar would be required for one choir practice a week (Thursday evenings) during term time and one Sunday 10.00am service throughout the year, plus extra services at Christmas and Easter. The exact division of duties between organ playing and conducting etc will be by mutual agreement. There will be six weeks' holiday during the 10 month engagement.

Auditions are currently set for Saturday 16 May 2020 (1.00pm onwards) though this may need to change if movement and contact restrictions are still in place. Candidates will be asked to play one piece by JS Bach, a contrasting piece written after 1800, two verses of a hymn provided on the day, and a short sight-reading test.
