Job Description
Areas of responsibility:
• To direct, train, develop and inspire the adult choir
• To re-establish Junior Choir participation for special services
• To choose choral music in conjunction with the Rector
• To work collaboratively with congregation, musicians, ministry team and PCC
• To increase musical engagement with the local community in sustainable ways as part of the church’s mission and help inspire future generations to worship Jesus Christ
• To play the organ for all main services on Sundays, on Festivals and for special events and to offer advice to the PCC on their care of the organ

Summary of key Terms and Conditions:
• 10 hours average per week
• Salary range of £11,000-£13,000, dependent on experience
• NEST pension scheme (if eligible)
• There will be a six month probation period
• Employed by the Parochial Church Council with line management from the Rector
• While ultimate responsibility for the worship and well-being of St Mary’s remains with the Rector, the post-holder will be expected to exercise creativity, leadership and commitment to the church’s mission within their area of work.
• A draft contract will be available to short-listed candidates before the interview.
• This post will be subject to enhanced DBS disclosure and associated declarations and safeguarding training as appropriate. Applicants should already be eligible for employment in the UK.
• Organ and pianos in church are available for the post-holder to use for practice and teaching when the relevant parts of the building are not booked for other purposes.

Applications close at 5pm on Wednesday 21st August 2024 with a view to advising shortlisted candidates no later than Sunday 25th August. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for interview, organ audition and adult choir directing audition at St Mary’s Woodford during the morning of Saturday 21st September.
