Musical Requirements:
St Peter’s Oadby wishes to recruit a Music Director who is an organist and has experience running a choir (SATB robed choir) and a modern worship music group. We are looking for someone who will provide a vision for the development of the choir and music group, and who will choose hymns and other music for the services. The church has a bright, resonant and airy acoustic and a very good pipe organ - a 2-manual Taylor-Walker, rebuilt in 2003 and well-maintained. There is also a piano in the church.
Other details:
The choir leads the music for the 10am services on the first, second and fifth Sundays of the month and a BCP choral evensong on the fourth Sunday of the month. Choir rehearsals are every Thursday for an hour (7-8pm).
The Worship Group leads the music at the 10.00 am services on the third and fourth Sundays of the month and meets to rehearse on the Monday prior to those services, at 19.30.
The post is for a self-employed person, working on a sessional basis, who may also be available for baptisms, weddings and funerals.
The Music Director will need to co-ordinate with the audio visual team, and clergy team. The church has a CCLI licence and safeguarding training and DBS checks will be organised by the church.
